McDonald’s Lebanon marked its 3rd year as a proud supporter of the global Movember movement committed to changing the face of men’s health. Through the generous contributions made by customers as well as McDonald’s Lebanon’s donation, a check was presented to AUBMC and the Naef K. Basile Cancer Institute in a gathering held at AUBMC on November 15, 2017 in the presence of McDonald’s Managing Partner Mr. Karim Miknas and Dr. Ali Taher, director of Naef K. Basile Cancer Institute.

“At McDonald’s, we are proud supporters of Movember, and giving back to our communities is in the DNA of our brand. It is only through this sense of connection that we grow as humans. It is also a way to acknowledge the silent suffering of so many men.”Miknas commented.

Dr. Taher stated that early detection and adoption of healthy lifestyle are key elements that helps reducing the burden of cancer and improving the patient outcome; increasing awareness is vital to improve cancer survivor rate.

Movember is a combination of the Australian slang ‘Mo” for moustache and the month of November in which men grow out  their beards  for the whole month that quickly develop as a trend around the world with moustaches sprouting everywhere in support of men’s health and greater awareness of prevention, treatment and cure.

The ultimate goal of Movember is to change the face of men’s health’ by encouraging men to get involved and to increase early cancer detection, diagnosis and effective treatment, ultimately reducing the number of preventable deaths. Besides annual check-ups, the Movember movement encourages men to be aware of family history of cancer and to adopt healthier lifestyles.

This initiative, among the company’s many other corporate social responsibility activities, stems from the company’s belief that when people work together, they can make a difference and save precious lives
